Free Background Photos

When I first started this blog, I wanted to provide some of my photos to the world to use for free. The thing that I didn't think about was for people to use them for background photos, or desktop photos. I guess I just completely overlooked the background photo idea.

Here is the photo that I have on my desktop right now.

So here are the quick instructions to use any of the pictures in the gallery for your background image.

1. Visit the gallery to browse the pictures. http://freephotos.stevestedman.com/gallery The link will open in a new window.

2. Find the picture that you want to use for your background.

3. Click through on the picture and choose the size of image that is closest or larger than your screen resolution. If you don't know your screen resolution just use the largest size image.

4. When you are viewing the image that you want to use for your background in the browser, right click on the image (from Internet Explorer or Firefox), and choose the popup menu item to set this image as your background image.

Thats all that needs to be done to use any of the pictures in the gallery for your background photo.

Just remember that these are all my original photos, and that I am making them freely available to anyone to use as long as they follow a few simple rules.

These Are My Photos to Share Freely....

I received an interesting comment from one of the visitors to this site.

But after closer inspection it appears several of your photos may have been copied straight from postcards for sale. Isn't that considered plagerism?

I am not sure if I should be flattered or insulted with a comment like this, so I have decided to take a moment to point out the following:

All photos on this site have been photographed by me (Steve Stedman), or by my wife or kids (just a couple).

All of the photos on this site have been shot with one of the following cameras:

Sony DSC-F717 - All photos before spring of 2005 were shot using this camera. This camera had a sudden impact with the pavement in a parking lot, and that ended its life.

Sony DSC-F828 - The replacement when I broke the F717. It is a pretty good camera, although it doesn't have an interchangeable lense.

Sony DSC-P150 - This is my small camera. It is getting a bit beat up, but it still works.

Again, to point out, all photos on this site have been shot by me, my wife, or my kids. Not one of the photos has ever been scanned in.

I wish to share all of the photos with the world, rather than keeping them to myself.
